Klaus-Jurgen Nagel is professor of Political Science at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Previously he has also been assigned to Universität Bielefeld (history department) and Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main (social sciences department) in Germany. His research interests include political theory (nationalism, federalism) and comparative politics (nationalist parties and movements, European Integration).

Amongst other important publications, he has recently published Federalism beyond federations. Asymmetry and processes of resymmetrisation in Europe together with Professor Ferran Requejo and Between independence in Europe, a Europe with a Hundred Flags, and a Europe of or with the Regions. Conceptualizing the Relations between stateless Nations and European Integration in Western Europe.

He will be the keynote speaker at the Coppieters Dinner-Debate. There, he will address the prospects for the different roadmaps towards self-determination in Europe. Special attention will be given to those cases having reached significant progress in their pursuit for self-determination.
